MORE vaccines are arriving in the country as the government received Sinopharm and Pfizer doses on Wednesday (August 11).
The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said that some 100,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine donated by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have arrived on Wednesday afternoon on board an Etihad Airways flight, while 813,150 doses of US-made Pfizer vaccine are expected to arrive at 9:20 tonight.
The new arrivals will bring the country's vaccine stock to almost 40 million doses.
Government officials led by Assistant Secretary Wilben Mayor, Director Soledad Antonio and acting Charge d'Affaires of the UAE Embassy Khalid Alhajeri welcomed the hundred thousand doses UAE-donated vaccine.
The Bureau of Customs' One-Stop-Shop at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) pre-cleared the shipment consigned to the Department of Health (DoH).
The vaccines procured by the government were brought immediately to PharmaServ Express' cold-chain facility in Marikina City for temporary storage, which will be delivered after packaging to various parts of the country.
With the arrival of the said vaccines, the country now has obtained 39,515,350 doses of vaccines since February.

Last Sunday, about 326,400 doses of Moderna vaccine were delivered, with 224,400 doses purchased by the government and 102,000 doses for the private sector.
