Eight days after Natasha Jung announced her withdrawal from the Miss Universe Philippines competition, MUPh-Kananga officially introduced a new candidate that they will be sending to the prestigious beauty pageant through a Facebook post, Thursday, February 29.
This was also confirmed by the Miss Universe Philippines organization after they posted the official headshot of Kananga's new representative on their social media pages on the same day.
Kananga sends new MUPh contestant_
Eighteen-year-old Phoebe Arriana Torita, first runner-up during the Miss Universe Philippines-Kananga coronation night held last December 11, 2023, will take pride in representing the municipality in the national competition.
"We could have chosen an easier route-to stop, but we have decided to move forward with love and perseverance. Therefore, it is with immense pride, honor, and excitement that we announce Ms. Phoebe Arrianna Veloso Torita as the new Miss Universe Philippines - Kananga 2024," MUPh-Kananga's Facebook post reads.
According to the organization, they believe that Torita embodies the "qualities of a true Kanangahanon and a modern Filipina" representative.
"Ms. Torita, a full-blooded Kanangahon, embodies the qualities of a true Kanangahanon and a modern Filipina whose beauty will shine wherever she goes - inspirational, empowered, and confident!" the caption reads.
Torita joins Angel Campo Tambal of MUPh-Leyte and Tamara Ocier of MUPh-Tacloban as representatives of the Eastern Visayas region in the ongoing competition.
Kananga sends new MUPh contestant
As of writing, 55 official candidates are vying for the coveted MUPh crown.
