The police officer who was caught on camera killing a woman and her son in Tarlac has received a punishment fit for a cold- blooded murderer like he is , and will now spend the rest of his life behind bars.
This, after the Tarlac Regional Trial Court, in a decision released today (August 26), found Jonel Nuezca guilty of two counts of murder for the fatal shooting of Sonya Gregorio and her son Frank Anthony last year.
Nuezca was meted out the penalty of reclusion perpetua (life imprisonment) for each case and was ordered by the court to pay P952,560 or P476,280 in damages to the heirs of Sonya and another P476,280 to the heirs of Frank Anthony.
Nuezca was caught in a video that went viral on social media shooting Gregorio and her son after a dispute in Paniqui, Tarlac last December 20.
The video drew widespread condemnation with some calling for reforms in the Philippine National Police and a stop to the killings.
