If given the chance to acquire more vaccines, Jolibee also hopes to vaccinate employees’ dependents and other household members.

On top of free vaccines, webinars on vaccine education will also be conducted to help employees make informed decisions regarding their health.

MORE and more private sector players are taking matters into their own hands amid the Covid-19 pandemic. This time, it’s Jollibee Foods Corp. announcing that it will be providing free vaccines to all its employees in the country.

According to Chairman Tony Tan Caktiong, the company values their employees’ safety and well-being. The inoculation program will cover employees from Jollibee, Mang Inasal, Chowking, Greenwich, Red Ribbon, Panda Express, and PHO24.

Employees in commissaries, distribution centers, support functions, and the Jollibee Group Foundation are also covered by the program.

If given the chance to acquire more vaccines, the company also hopes to vaccinate employees’ dependents, extended family, and other household members.

On top of free vaccines, webinars on vaccine education will also be conducted to help employees make informed decisions regarding their health.

The Jollibee inoculation program adopts the guidelines of the government’s COVID-19 task force and the Department of Health to support the country’s vaccination program.

Although major corporations are rising to the challenge by providing free vaccination for employees, it is interesting to note that the government should have enough money to cover the vaccination of approximately ⅓ of the population given the loans it took out from international finance institutions.

It currently has $500 million from the World Bank, $400 million from the Asian Development Bank, and another $300 million from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, which amount to 60 billion pesos.

With aid from local government units and the private institution, it will hopefully only be a matter of time for the Philippines to reach herd immunity. That is, if the money provided for vaccines actually goes to the purchase of vaccines. (MO)
