Amid all the "trashy" content on social media, netizens from Calabarzon are finding John Lyndon Libao's own social media content a literal breath of fresh air.
Libao, known on Facebook as the vlogger "Batang TV," is now making waves for being a "cleanfluencer."
His content: cleaning out trash from streets and canals.
Libao, a native of Pagsawitan, Santa Cruz, Laguna, represents a new breed of social media influencers who want to make a positive impact on their viewers and their communities as well.
Called "cleanfluencers," these vloggers feature content of them doing clean-up activities such as sweeping streets or dredging canals and drainage systems.
Netizens who are now finding themselves swamped with "AI slop," fake news or nonsensical talk from other influencers see these "cleanfluencers" as cleaning more than streets.
Their volunteerism and initiative to promote cleanliness has also inspired others to become responsible for their surroundings, according to some.
Libao, who has curated "Batang TV" some three years now, says he got his inspiration from his parents.
“Itinuro sa amin ng aking magulang kung paano maging mabuting anak at maging sa kalikasan,” he told OpinYon Laguna.
"Ang kalinisan at disiplina ang magbibigay sa atin ng kaayusan at maging mabuting halimbawa sa mamamayan," he added.
Libao now has 16,000 followers on his "Batang TV" channel and has cleaned streets all over Laguna and Batangas provinces.
