San Pedrenses seeking employment found their chance to land their dream job at the “MIKAbuhayan 3 Job Fair” held at the Pacita Astrodome in Barangay Pacita 1, San Pedro City, Laguna last September 18.
This event was organized by the San Pedro City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and the Gender and Development Office (GAD), in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the provincial government of Laguna.
According to officials of the San Pedro City PESO, this activity aims is to provide wider employment opportunities and contribute to the improvement of our citizens’ livelihood.
This initiative also sought to connect jobseekers directly with employers, making the hiring process more accessible and efficient.
Over 41 companies and recruitment agencies, both based in San Pedro City and beyond, offered diverse range of job vacancies from various industries awaited applicants of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
Various government agencies such as Social Security Services (SSS), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) and Pag-IBIG Fund also offered various services to ensure that jobseekers, particularly those who were hired on the spot, will be covered by the financial benefits offered by these offices.
The city government also offered free haircuts, massage services, and photocopying services for the convenience and comfort of jobseekers.
According to data compiled by the San Pedro City PESO, a total of 402 applicants took their chances at landing their dream jobs during the MIKAbuhayan Job Fair.
Out of these, 146 jobseekers, or 36 percent of the total number of jobseekers, were successfully hired on the spot (HOTS), reflecting the strong impact of the activity in bridging employment opportunities and workforce needs.
