CSB Blazers Pasturan and Davis have formally pressed charges against John Amores for physical assault in their second round match in the NCAA S98.

College of St. Benilde Blazers Jimboy Pasturan and Taine Davis officially filed charges against John Amores of the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers following the physical assault of the latter during their second round match of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 98 Men’s Basketball Tournament on November 8.

According to a report from Spin.ph, the two Blazers were accompanied by CSB head coach Charles Tiu as they pressed charges at the San Juan Prosecutor's Office—where the match was held—for serious physical injuries on Friday morning.

The violence took place after Amores had an altercation with Mark Sangco from CSB and was seen rushing to the bench of the opposite team as the officials were deliberating, punching Pasturan and Davis.

JRU and the NCAA both released a statement the day after the incident, imposing an indefinite suspension on Amores which will prevent the player from playing for the remainder of the tournament, as well as being banned from attending team practices.

“For us, it’s just really an unfortunate incident that we felt really could have been avoided if they were able to keep emotions a little bit in check. We felt it’s a game won for us. Tapos na sana and none of this should have happened, and we have guys punched. I guess that’s part of life, part of basketball, and I’m just thankful that no other guys got hurt right now,” Tiu said in an interview with GMA.

"As disappointing as it is, we asked the team to just learn to forgive for whatever happened but we're still gonna take the right actions that need to be done."

University of the Philippines officials also claimed that they have filed charges against Amores, this instance at the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office, after punching their newly recruited player Mark Belmonte in a preseason stint.

In a Facebook post by Renan Dalisay, chairman of NowheretogobutUP, a volunteer group supporting UP’s sports affairs, he lamented that the inaction of the JRU officials regarding the first incident forced them to continue with the charges.
