A total of 74 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) inside the Zamboanga City Jail Male Dormitory made local history today, January 29, as the first batch of PDLs who graduated under the first Madrasah (Islamic school) instituted inside a penal facility.
According to J/Supt.Xavier Solda, the Madrasah program, which started in July last year, is part of the continuing jail management reforms inside the Zamboanga City Jail. During the ceremony, the National Commission for Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) also donated sets of the Quran, sejarahs (prayer mats), and textbooks for the PDLs.
