Iran bags 1st win at VNL

The 17th ranked team in the world, Iran upset the 5th ranked team and crowd favorite, USA at 3 sets to 2 at the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2024 at the MOA Arena in Pasay City Wednesday, June 19.

Poriya Firouzjah led his team with 23 points while Milad Ebadipour put up with 20 points, ending their streak of eight consecutive losses with a final score of 26-28, 25-23, 25-18, 26-28, 15-13.


Torey Defalco carried the load for the USA team and tallied 33 big points but failed to get the win and dropped them to 3-6 standing.

Iran will try to continue their momentum by facing the Netherlands, while the USA will try to stay alive to get into the quarterfinals by taking on Brazil.

The matches will be held today, June 20 at the same venue.
