Lambunao, one of the largest towns of Iloilo province, is witnessing a transformative change.

Thanks to the Local Government Support Fund - Support to Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP) of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), four remote barangays now have new roads connecting them to progress.

Mayor Reynor R. Gonzales proudly announced that the projects in Barangays Sagcup, Banban, Bagongbong, and Panuran, each worth P6.6 million, are complete and ready for inauguration.

Bridge To Opportunity

These roads symbolize more than just infrastructure. These represent a bridge to opportunity.

Previously isolated and considered conflict areas, these barangays now have access to the broader world, opening doors for development and growth.

Mayor Gonzales emphasized that development projects empower residents, involving them in managing and implementing these initiatives.

The impact on these communities, each home to at least 1,000 residents, cannot be overstated.

Sense Of Involvement

The roads are a lifeline, facilitating access to markets, healthcare, and education. Residents are no longer trapped in the hinterlands but are part of a vibrant and connected network. This sense of involvement and empowerment is crucial for sustaining peace and fostering a sense of ownership among the people.

The completion of these roads is just a part of a larger development narrative in Lambunao.

In addition to the NTF-ELCAC projects, other initiatives funded by the provincial government, the House of Representatives, and local government are also underway, spreading progress across the municipality.

On June 13, a new P20 million farm-to-market road connecting Barangays Sibacungan and Poblacion Ilaya was inaugurated, funded through the office of Iloilo 3rd District Rep. Lorenz R. Defensor. This 1,340-meter paved road will significantly speed up the transport of farm products, boosting the local economy.

The collective efforts of the national and local government reflect a commitment to transforming Lambunao into a hub of development.

Inclusive Progress

By investing in infrastructure, the region is not only addressing immediate needs but also laying the groundwork for sustainable growth.

This holistic approach ensures that progress is inclusive, reaching even the most remote corners.

However, these achievements also highlight the importance of continued vigilance and proactive governance.

While the roads have opened up new opportunities, it is crucial to maintain and expand these infrastructures to ensure long-term benefits.

The success of these projects should inspire further investments and initiatives to build on this foundation.
