ILOILO CITY – The city government here said the National Rally for Peace of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) was peaceful and no untoward incident was reported.
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) said the event “was a demonstration of unity, respect, and cooperation, underscoring the significance of national peace.”
In a report submitted by the Iloilo City Emergency Operation Center, 47 patients availed of consultation for blood pressure, while others complained of dizziness, elevated blood pressure, and multiple abrasions due to slip and fall.
“I am thankful to the Iglesia ni Cristo for the peaceful rally. We coordinated with them starting Friday. The last coordination was Sunday. We prepared for an emergency. The report to me, at its peak, they reached 18,000,” Mayor Jerry Treñas said in a media interview on Tuesday.
ICPO Director Col. Kim Legada said they are proud to have successfully facilitated a peaceful and harmonious event.
“The rally was a reflection of the collective desire for peace and it is a testament to the power of respect and cooperation among all people,” Legada said in a statement.
The gathering held at Iloilo Freedom Grandstand included INC members from all over Panay Island. (PNA)
