Wanting to immediately establish its presence in the country, world renowned IKEA is looking for Filipinos to grace the cover of its IKEA Philippines magazine.

“ALL ages, all sizes, serious, crazy, nerd, funny, fluffy, huge, tiny – we don’t mind,” says IKEA Philippines as it launched its search for IKEA PH’s cover model.

Swedish furniture retail company IKEA will soon be opening its online store and so, they are in search for Filipinos to grace their first magazine in the Philippines.

After posting photos of the first shipment of IKEA range arriving in IKEA MOA, Pasay City in June 7, they’re now inviting Filipinos to be an IKEA magazine cover models.

The mechanics specify that Filipinos above 18 years old are open to participate but if chosen as a family, all family members will appear on the cover. The contest is open nationwide.

Five winners will ultimately be selected and appear in the digital and/or print cover of IKEA Philippines Magazine.

Other prizes include P30,000 worth of IKEA vouchers and invitation to the store opening.

Interested models can start submitting their entries until June 30 and winners will be chosen on July 14 but announced publicly on July 23, 2021.

Back in 2017, IKEA first announced that they have plans to open in the country but only revealed a year later that the first store will rise at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

After years of construction, IKEA Philippines' market development manager Georg Platzer announced in an interview that their e-commerce store will launch on July 2021, nine weeks ahead of the opening of the physical store.

According to Platzer, IKEA has been researching Filipino homes since 2016 to better understand the Filipino needs and challenges.

Their research showed that a Filipino home is not just the house “but the people they share it with,” regarding to the tradition of inheriting houses and living with multiple generations.

They’ve collated their findings in a video series called IKEA’s “Life at Home in the Philippines” viewable on YouTube or their website.
