How can the Philippine fashion industry discover and create the real identity and meaning of what the national wear be if it is done in modernity?
How can it appeal to the discriminating taste of both the homegrown and foreign clients not excluding the multiracial fashionistas?
This is the crucial question being thrown to the organizers and paricipants to the "Kasuotang Filipino A Mini Fashion Show" slated tomorrow, Septermber 22, 2023 at 4 pm at the Museo ng Makati.
"We will present our traditional Filipino dresses in a modern way. There will be variations and revisions in the Filipiniana wear that can still be worn on a daily basis yet tweaked in the now fashion," said Albert Figueras, one of the few fashion designers to parade his creations in the event.
Figueras added it is the magic of creativity that a past and present concept designs combined will definitely attract customers, wearers, stakeholders, models and other patrons of dressmaking.
Albert elucidated that the current socio'-political atmosphere has warranted the leveling up of style. "The President and the First Lady want to encourage the creation of pratical clothing and wearability that the concept of the mixed traditional and modern fashion came about," explained Figueras.
Other fashion gurus to join the "Kasuotang Filipino" runway gig are Albert Andrada, Erick Valena, Agimat Store, among few other Makati-based designers.
