Singer-songwriter Ice Seguerra has urged for compassion and acceptance amidst the absence of legal protections for LGBTQ individuals in the Philippines.

Speaking at the recent Rainbow Care Caravan launch in Manila's Plaza Moriones, Seguerra emphasized the need for laws safeguarding LGBTQ rights, highlighting the pending House Bill 10176 and Senate Bill 1600 (SOGIESC Equality Act).

Since publicly coming out in 2000, Seguerra, a transman, noted societal improvements in recognizing LGBTQ roles and contributions.

He also expressed the hope that support shown during Pride Month extends beyond, stressing ongoing advocacy.

Organized by the Philippine Information Agency’s Metro Manila office, the Rainbow Care Caravan collaborated with agencies like the Philippine Health Insurance Corp., National Commission for Senior Citizens, and the Philippine National AIDS Council, alongside private partners.

It aimed to provide tailored services, particularly for elderly LGBTQ individuals, with the Golden Bekis showcasing their products.

Colonel Bogard Arao, Manila Police District's Community Affairs and Development Division Chief, affirmed inclusivity, stating military training accessibility for LGBTQ members.
