Family reunion is one Filipino tradition which has been existing in our society for ages.
It is one social occasion which renews and regains individual and collective filial strengths to connect and reconnect to a larger and more unified blood ties.
It is rekindling as well of relationships that have missed or re-missed, left behind, gone sour etc.
The latest Villasanta clan reunion happened last December with good enough purposes and consequences.
One of the successes of last year's seeing and feeling one another among clan members was the appearance of first time attendees from the revival of the reunion in 2023 after a long hiatus in decades.
The other exciting treat the 2024 get-together brought was the increasing attendance from the preceding event of all one hundred or so guest list to more than one hundred fifty head counts.
It might be considered successful by the sudden appearance of actor and senatorial candidate in the 2025 midterm elections Phillip Salvador although he's not a Villasanta but his presence added dimension to the event.
In all intents and purposes, Phillip was a stirrer in the socio-political landscape of any party considered socials or socializing not only because of his association with the Dutertes but his mimetic capabilities in interpreting the life of the commonplace, a family reunion in a rural place with ordinary intentions of a clan coming together as one.
There were still small triumphs but gradual increase in attendance is laudable.
It was amazing because the reunion had stirred interest in many clan members to integrate and interact with each other every now and then.
Consider that Villasanta is one of the biggest families in Lopez town of Quezon Province that one expects to rise and share one common goal--togetherness and harnessing closer ties among its members.
It started with only a few organizers to mount an initial revival.
It easily paid off.
The Villasanta getting together on Easter Sunday last Sunday was another attempt to gather many if not all members of the clan for the third time.
It was me who instigated the Villasanta Clan Reunion on April 20, 2025 to sustain its vitality and exploring possibilities.
It wasn't easy.
I had to voluntarily organize another Villasanta clan reunion to look deeper into the problems why there are dysfunctional, displeased, disjointed and displaced members of a clan which are theoretically explainable but practically unsolved.
