A communist rebel, who was on the list of most wanted person for the crimes he committed in Mindanao, was sent back to Davao following his capture in Malaysia.

Police authorities on Monday arrested an alleged communist rebel upon hisarrival after he was deported from Malaysia.

Philippine National Police Directorate for Intelligence PM/Gen. Benjamin Acorda said Eric Jun Casilao had arrived from Malaysia aboard Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight PR530 on Monday morning.

The Malaysian government turned over the suspect to Philippine authorities at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in line withthe two governments security arrangement. He is set to face multiple criminal charges filed against him in Davao.

According to reports, Casilao was allegedly the secretary of Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC) as well as a Central Committee member of the CPP-NPA-NDF.

The PNP said the Philippine government received reports that Casilaoand his wife, May Vargas Casilao, were hiding in Malaysia.

The PNP said it immediately coordinated with the Malaysian authorities for the arrest of Casilao who had a P5.4-million bounty on his head.

Casilao is facing a string of cases: murder, attempted murder, kidnapping and serious illegal detention.

His wife, who isan alleged plenary member of the SMRC and had a standing warrant of arrest for kidnapping, serious illegal detention and attempted murder, is still at large.
