88rising’s Head in the Clouds drops teaser for a Manila edition of the festival following the announcement of its two-day event in Jakarta on December this year.

88rising made an announcement on social media on August 7, tagging their newly created Twitter account for HITC Manila, saying “PHILIPPINES LET’S PLAY,” hinting that its music festival Head In The Clouds will be heading to Manila for the first time.

The sudden news follows the announcement of their Jakarta shows on December 3 and 4, with tickets going on sale on August 4 as they teased the inclusion of two Indonesian artists, Rich Brian and NIKI to the lineup with pictures of them.

Meanwhile, Head In The Clouds LA is set to happen this month featuring Jackson Wang, NIKI, Rich Brian, Yebi Labs (Joji DJ Set), BIBI, Chung Ha, Jay Park, Ylona Garcia, eaJ, MILLI, and more.

No confirmed dates or artists to perform at the festival have been announced as of yet for the possible Manila show.

88rising is home to Paradise Rising, their first-ever sub-label created in July 2020, hosted by artists such as Jason Dhakal, Kiana V, Fern., Leila Alcasid and Massiah, who all worked together for the compilation album ‘semilucent’.

Paradise Rising also signed GUAPDAD 4000 and Ylona Garcia as the label progressed.

HITC was originally set to debut in Southeast Asia In 2020, scheduling Manila and Jakarta legs, but was halted due to the rise of the Covid-19 cases in the region.

Acts such as Rich Brian, Joji, Dumbfoundead, Stephanie Poetri and Higher Brothers were confirmed to be part of the lineup at the March 2020 event, which was scheduled to be held at the JIExpo Kemayoran in Jakarta.

The festival debuted in 2018 as the first Asian-focused music festival in the United States with the goal to make the festival an annual event and was referred to as the “Asian Coachella” after its success.

HITC became a two-day festival in 2021 and returned to Los Angeles, California, in August 2022.
