SM Supermalls has partnered with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to accommodate registrants undergoing Step 2 registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).

SM malls nationwide are ready to accommodate Step 2 registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) also known as the biometrics process.

On June 14, 2021, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and SM Prime Holdings Inc. signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to provide registration sites at SM malls for Step 2 PhilSys.

“This partnership will help PSA's goal to expand PhilSys operation and register more Filipinos across the country,” PSA said.

The PSA recently confirmed 2,072,247 registrants for the online Step 1 where demographic information was collected.

Step 2 registration requires personal attendance to collect iris and fingerprints scan, and front-facing photographs.

Filipinos who have completed Step 1 may visit https://register.philsys.gov.ph to register and book appointment schedules for their step 2 registration.

According to a separate PNA report, a total of 103,935 PhilID cards have been delivered, PSA said.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has since ordered LGUs to honor the PhilID card in both government and private transactions.

Signed into law by President Rodrigo R. Duterte in August 2018, Republic Act 11055, or the Philippine Identification System Act, aims to establish a single national ID for all Filipinos and resident aliens.

The national ID shall be a valid proof of identity that shall be a means of simplifying public and private transactions, enrollment in schools, and the opening of bank accounts.
