ILOILO CITY – The provincial government of Guimaras seeks to enhance medical services and improve patient care efficiency with its PHP167 million four-story Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital (DCGNPH) outpatient care center.
On Thursday, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the facility that will house the primary care facility (pharmacy, radiology, and minor surgery), dialysis station, ambulatory surgical clinic, physical therapy and rehab, among others, at Barangay San Miguel in Jordan town.
“We really want to deliver the best possible healthcare for our constituency, and it will not only mean the infrastructure and equipment. I know it should be mainly through the right personnel that we should have here in our hospital," said Governor JC Rahman A. Nava in a statement on Friday.
The project, with PHP90 million support from the Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) of the Department of Health, PHP20 million from Senator Pia Cayetano, and PHP57 million from the provincial government, is eyed for completion in the first semester of 2026.
Nava said that strengthening outpatient care in the province is also in preparation for the full implementation of universal health care (UHC).
This includes the improvements of Buenavista Emergency Hospital (BEH) with a PHP55 million fund for its outpatient care facility and PHP30 million for the Nueva Valencia District Hospital.
"We are trying to package everything. This is in preparation for the UHC so that we have a stronger outpatient service. Not only here with Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava, eventually medical center, but as well as to the other facilities,” he added.
