Gov. Tan heads Quezon’s disaster response

Quezon Governor Drm Helen Tan leads disaster response to reas hit by Typhoon Karding.

Quezon Governor Dr. Helen Tan has mobilized disaster response teams to areas in the province that were affected by super typhoon Karding yesterday (September 25).

The governor ordered the suspension of classes in all levels in both public and private schools today for the safety of Quezonins.

Before and after the typhoon's onslaught, Tan also ordered the delivery of relief goods, supplies, medication, and other assistance.

Tan immediately went to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMO) to conduct a rapid assessment of the province's current state following the devastation caused by Typhoon Karding.

She also said that rescue workers would be ready to help in case of an emergency.

The Provincial Government of Quezon is collaborating with the Philippine Army (PA), the Philippine Air Force (PAF), and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to send relief supplies to the province's remote towns like Jomalig more quickly.

"Salamat Solcom OIC Commander BGen. Arevalo, TOWSOL BGen. Cutler, PNP PD Col. Monte for visiting our command center and for helping us on our post-disaster response. Salamat AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Bacarro for responding to my request. Salamat [Interior and Local Government] Secretary Benhur Abalos for closely monitoring us," Tan said on her Facebook Page.

The governor also thanked Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Erwin Tulfo for 50,000 food packs intended for Polillo, Burdeos, Panukulan, Patnanungan, Jomalig (POGI) at Real, Infanta and General Nakar (REINA) areas.
