PDEA lauded the BoC-NAIA for the continuous collaboration and the successful joint and coordinated efforts to fight against illegal drugs.

The Bureau of Customs (BoC) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) convened a collaborative meeting with other government agencies aimed at strengthening inter-agency collaboration.

The meeting also aims to further enhance vigilance on the entry of illegal drugs into the country through the main gateway, or strengthening border control and curbing the importation of illegal drugs and substances.

Port of NAIA District Collector Carmelita Talusan said other government agencies attended the forum are Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) NCR Regional Director Christian Frivaldo, Captain Levi Jose of the Manila International Airport Authority-Airport Police Department, NAIA-IADITG (Inter Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group) deputy commander Gerald Javier and PNP Aviation Security Group representative PSSG Amante Cabuloy.

Talusan also said that the meeting is to further bolster the exchange of intelligence information between BoC-NAIA and PDEA "in the bid to protect the country against all attempts to import illegal drugs and substances inimical not only to public health but to public safety as well."

"Proactive measures were similarly discussed to continuously curtail the entry and proliferation of illegal drugs," Talusan added.

The BoC-NAIA official said that earlier this year, a coordination center was established in People's Air Cargo and Warehousing Inc. (PAIRCARGO) warehouse manned by operatives of PDEA and BoC-NAIA "to ensure timely response of officers and operatives of both agencies on anti-illegal drug-related operations, namely: K9 inspection, package profiling, backtracking investigation, seizure and controlled delivery initiatives, among others."

PDEA lauded the BoC-NAIA for the continuous collaboration and the successful joint and coordinated efforts to fight against illegal drugs.

"I greatly commend each and every one of you for doing a job well done. The best accomplishment under your leadership, Collector, and other agencies operating in NAIA, is the cooperation. Knowing so, I look forward to being part of the government service with you," PDEA's Frivaldo said.
