Gilas Pilipinas U16 Girls displayed mastery against Indonesia, 104-68, in their first game in the FIBA U16 Women's Asian Championship.

Gilas Pilipinas U16 Girls team showed dominance over Indonesia, 104-68, in their opening game in the FIBA U16 Women's Asian Championship at Prince Hamzah Stadium in Amman, Jordan.

Gabby Ramos led all the Filipinas with a double-double heading into halftime, finished her debut with a statline of 27 points and 20 rebounds, together with four assists and four blocks.

The Clovis East High School standout did the damage against the Indonesian side in just 25 minutes of action.

Helping in the offensive side is Kristan Yumul with six three-pointers under her name en route to a 20-point performance.

Naomi Panganiban also contributed 15 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the free-throw line with eight rebounds, five assists, and a steal.

Angelica Candra tried to keep her squad afloat with 16 points and 13 rebounds in a losing effort with Erinindita Madafa and Vanissa Siregar helping with 12 and 11 markers respectively.

Ava Fajardo and Kailah Oani chipped in seven points apiece, as well.

It was not a smooth game the Gilas wanted it tobe as the Indonesians were in the front seat for some time in the first half, going 21-17 up in the first frame.

However, Gilas turned things around in the second quarter outscoring Indonesia, 28-18, to gain the lead in the half while they managed a huge 18-2 lead in the third, putting the team up by 20, 70-50, at the third frame.

This win marks a triumphant return of the Philippines in the international youth stage after their last stint in 2009 as they try to get promoted from Division A, where they are currently playing, to Division B.

Gilas is set face Syria tomorrow, at 8:45 p.m after Syria defeated Samoa earlier in the day, 75-63.
