Gilas Girls held winless in the recent 3x3 FIBA Asia Cup U17 after two games against Hong Kong and Thailand.

The Gilas Pilipinas Women dropped both games in the preliminary round of the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup U17 at MABA Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday, October 13.

The young Filipinas met with No.14 Hong Kong first in a do-or-die game after the latter beat Thailand, 13-11, to open QD A, and ended up suffering a 15-19 loss.

A comeback was mounted by the girls after trimming the deficit to 15-17 after a high of 10-15, but Wai Laam Leung of Hong Kong had other plans and sank a basket in the dying minute of the match to secure the win.

It was then followed by a game against No. 2 Thailand in a tight game where they ultimately lost after Rotratsamee Sinlapawisut buried the game-winning basket, 20-21 in overtime.

Chosita Sakaret could have ended the match earlier and not played extra minutes but she split her free throws before BJ Villarin tied the game at 20.

Nolasco was steady for the Filipinas in both games, delivering nine and eight markers, respectively, while Nicole Pring contributed 10 points during the match with Thailand.

The Philippines was supposed to field Nolasco and Villarin, together with Kristan Yumul and Fil-Aussie Jolzyne Impreso for the FIBA tournament.

However, both Yumul and Impreso only secured their Philippine passports late for this stint, resulting in their ineligibility for the continental meet and must undergo a year of residency to be able to compete.

The pair was replaced by Nazareth School-National University standout Pring and Adamson High School cager Arianne Delos Santos and served in their first international contest for the Philippines.

On the other hand, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas decided to not field a boys team for the tournament.
