In an era where digital transactions are the norm, GCash has again stepped up to the plate, reinforcing its commitment to user security by introducing Send Money Protect (SMP). This groundbreaking GInsure feature, powered by global insurer Chubb, marks a significant leap forward in safeguarding users against the rising tide of online scams, providing an extra layer of protection for all Express Send transactions for a nominal fee of PHP 30.

The ubiquity of digital money transfers in our daily lives has undeniably streamlined transactions, but it has also given rise to new challenges. Scammers, fraudsters, and cyber criminals are devising innovative ways to exploit unsuspecting users and abscond with their hard-earned funds. Recognizing this, GCash, the Philippines' #1 finance super app and largest cashless ecosystem has partnered with Chubb, a global insurance leader, to launch Send Money Protect—the country's first and most comprehensive embedded scam coverage for digital wallet transactions.

Winsley Bangit, Vice President and Group Head for New Businesses at GCash, highlighted the company's unwavering commitment to trust and security. He shared, "At GCash, we make sure to be relentless in strengthening our trust and security initiatives." This includes leveraging top-notch cybersecurity technology, employing AI-powered systems, running educational campaigns like GSafeTayo, and collaborating closely with law enforcement agencies to combat cybercriminals. In addition to these efforts, GCash is now excited to offer SMP, allowing users to fortify themselves against potential threats.

SMP protects against the most common scams, such as those perpetrated by fake online sellers or scammers posing as familiar contacts to trick users into sending money via Express Send. This new feature is accessible in three straightforward steps during the money transfer process: ensure the Send Money Protect button is clicked in the Express Send transaction screen, tap the pop-up screen to reconfirm, and complete the transaction, now fortified with SMP.

"While due diligence is needed in ensuring online transactions are legitimate, we hope our new solution boosts our users’ confidence to send money worry-free," added Bangit. By providing a safety net against unforeseen events, SMP significantly contributes to the financial well-being of users, aligning seamlessly with GCash's vision of "finance for all."
