After decades of forlorn, the huge Fule-Malvar Mansion in the heart of San Pablo City is again alive and zestful.
A landmark in the urban side of the city, the Fule-Mansion was a gigantic spot in the days of yore.
I remember when buses routed to the south would still pass by the iconic edifice, I would wonder about the enormity of the structure painted white, thus the term White House as referred to by residents and strangers in the city.
According to Prof. Johnny Perlas, a teacher at ther DLSU-Dasmarinas City, Cavite and a native of San Pablo, the mansion is one of the most celebrated residences in his community.
“Marami nang nag-occupy ng mansion na ‘yan. Pero ngayon, nire-redevelop na ng (There were successions of occupants of the mansion. But now, it is being restored by the) City Tourism Council through the initiative of Ana Alcantara,” volunteered Prof. Perlas.
In a reel posted last year, the mansion was relighted in all its glorious brightness.
This year, the Christmas spirit is again alive all over the building.
“Gagawin na siyang museum ng San Pablo (It will be converted into a museum of the city),” said the professor.
The Fule-Malvar Mansion used to be owned by Don Potenciano Malvar of Sto. Tomas. Batangas and Dona Eusebia Fule of San Pablo City.
It is considered a cultural heritage.
