Another 132,000 doses of Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccines have arrived in Manila Friday, boosting up the government’s efforts to control the Covid-19 pandemic.

AFTER some delays, the third tranche of the Sputnik V vaccines arrived on late Friday night (July 9) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Russia's Gamaleya Research Institute has delivered an additional 132,200 doses to Manila after encountering some delays via Qatar Airways flight QR928.

The arrival of the vaccine cargo was welcomed at the premier airport by chief implementer of the National Task Force and vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. along with Russian Ambassador to the Philippines Marat Pavlov.

The Bureau of Customs-NAIA (BoC-NAIA) pre-cleared the third delivery of Sputnik V, and transported to the PharmaServ Express cold storage facility in Marikina City.

Also on Friday, the BoC-NAIA cleared another batch of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine, with 1,124,100 doses, aboard All Nippon Airways and it was pre-cleared on July 7 at the Covid-19 One-Stop-Shop of BoC-NAIA.

It can be recalled that AstraZeneca was the second Covid-19 vaccine imported into the country, following the first Covid-19 vaccine arrival in the Philippines on February 28, 2021.

For the first half of 2021, the BoC-NAIA has cleared 12 million doses of Sinovac, 2.556 million doses of AstraZeneca, 2,478,060 doses of Pfizer, 249,600 doses of Moderna, and 180,000 doses of Sputnik V. (BL)
