PAGSANJAN, Laguna - What are friends for?

Despite the heavy downpour, the group of Efren Reyes, Jr., Dindo Arroyo, Marynette Gamboa and Arman Reyes braved the bad weather just to see their departed friend for the last time.

Efren, Dindo, Marynette and Arman, four of the many people behind the film “Idol The April Boy Regino Story” went all the way from Manila to this idyllic town to pay their last respects to actress and ex-mayor Maita Sanchez, Girlie Maita Javier-Ejercito in real life, who died of endometrial cancer last November 3 at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City.

Sanchez was one of the couple Efren and Marynette’s bosom buddies.

“Maita is a very good friend,” said Dindo who is running for the city council of Binan in the 2025 midterm elections.

“Of course, her husband ER Ejercito is also a dear friend,” added Arroyo.

“Sister Maita, may you rest in paradise!!! Mayor ER and children, our sincere condolences and prayers!!! Arroyo Family!!! To God be the glory!!!” Dindo captioned the photo on his Facebook wall.

In the picture on Dindo’s social media spaces taken before the dead’s coffin included children of Maita, namely, Jerico Estregan, Jet Ejercito and Jhulia Ejercito with ER, Efren, Arroyo, Marynette and Arman.

Efren, Dindo, Marynette and Arman are the director, actor, producer and associate producer, respectively, of “Idol: The April Boy Regino Story.”
