Now in its fourth year, the city government of San Pedro, Laguna's yearly program of free school equipment for its schoolchildren has entered into a new phase.
The San Pedro City LGU, under the leadership of Mayor Art Mercado, successfully completed the first week of its citywide distribution of free school uniforms, rubber shoes, and umbrellas to thousands of public-school students.
Aside from the distribution of free school uniforms, Mercado also led the inauguration of a newly constructed three-storey, 16-classroom school building at the Pacita National High School in Barangay Pacita 1.
The simultaneous rollout of educational assistance and school infrastructure highlights the Mercado Administration’s continuing policy of investing in both learners and learning environments to ensure that every child has access to quality education.
In his message during the distribution ceremonies, Mercado emphasized that improving the city’s education sector remains one of the LGU’s highest priorities.
“Every investment we make in education is an investment in the future of San Pedro,” the city executive said.
By providing our students with their basic school needs and building better learning facilities, we are creating greater opportunities for the next generation.”
Mercado likewise expressed his sincere gratitude to the taxpayers of San Pedro, whose contributions continue to fund programs that directly benefit the city’s youth.
“These initiatives are made possible because of the trust and support of our taxpayers. We also thank the Department of Education, our school administrators, teachers, and all education partners who continue to shape the future of our children through their dedication and service,” he said.
Further strengthening the city’s support for education, Mercado announced that all public-school teachers in San Pedro will receive laptops by August, providing educators with additional tools to enhance teaching and improve learning outcomes.
Through sustained investments in students, educators, and school infrastructure, the city government of San Pedro continues to build opportunities that will benefit future generations of San Pedrenses.
