In celebration of National Women's Month, LRT-1 and PNR will offer free rides for women passengers on March 8.

TO recognize and honor their huge contribution to the society and in celebration of National Women's Month, the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Light Rail Transit Authority (LRT-2), and the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), have announced free LRT-2 rides for women on Monday, March 8 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m to 7 p.m.

This is only one of the many services Filipino women can enjoy this month as PCW partners with both government and private sectors in producing the #ServiceForJuana

The month of March is observed as the National Women's Month. For the year 2021, the celebration is entitled, "Juana Laban sa Pandemya: Kaya!" organized by PCW starting March 1 to 31.

Philippine National Railways (PNR) is also preparing various services for women passengers including a Women's Month photo booth at PNR Tutuban Station; special lane and free ride on select cars (MSC 1008, 1051, 1408, and 1451) on March 8; and free advocacy facemasks and foldable fan for 400 female passengers on March 8.

Included in the celebration are the free Pasig River Ferry rides for women throughout the month in partnership with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Passengers must still follow the minimum health protocols such as wearing face masks, shields, and physical distancing.

Other services under the #ServiceForJuana project include free reproductive health services from Monday to Friday (8 AM - 4 PM) at the Commission on Population Family Wellness Clinic, Welfareville Compound, Brgy Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City.

Finally, the Department of Foreign Affairs will be distributing freebies to some of its local branches as gifts such as alcohol spray, fan, and face masks to women clients while supplies last.

PCW is currently holding a weekly Online Forum Series to be live streamed through their Facebook page at 1 PM. The upcoming episode airing on March 8 is titled, Kamusta Ka, Juana which will tackle topics on dealing and rising from the pandemic, work from home duties, activities, mental health, and available government programs for women.
