Persons with disabilities (PWDs) may soon get more perks in the form of free processing of their documents.
This, after the ACT-CIS party-list pledged free government documents like birth certificates for PWDs and single parents, aiming to ease financial burdens.
ACT-CIS Representative Erwin Tulfo, the Deputy Majority Leader for Communications in the House of Representatives, emphasized that making essential documents free of charge will ease the job-seeking process for marginalized groups.
He highlighted the significance of this initiative for PWDs and single parents, stating that it would provide substantial savings for other essential expenses.
Tulfo noted that many PWDs require costly maintenance and therapy, while single parents face the financial challenge of raising children alone.
"Increasing their savings could significantly aid their job search," he said.
Currently, a law provides free access to these documents solely for first-time job seekers.
"Our proposed bill in the House aims to extend this privilege to all PWDs and single parents, ensuring they receive necessary government documents for employment without charge," Tulfo explained.
