Jed Madela's new single, "Wish u the Worst," has stirred controversy, drawing a strong reaction from his former talent manager, Annie Mercado.
Feeling personally attacked by the song, voiced her frustrations on social media.
Mercado took to Facebook to express her anger, suggesting that the song was a critique of her management style. She accused Madela, who was born, raised and educated in Iloilo City, of being ungrateful and playing the victim.
In her post, Mercado wrote, "Since he went public via a song, I am no longer going to keep quiet about this person... This song is about relationships but we’re not d*mb to think it’s not about us, the very family who took good care of him and loved him from the day he set foot in Manila."
Mercado believes that "Wish u the Worst" reveals Madela's true character. She criticized the song's negative tone, stating, “It’s full of negativity, hate, and bitterness always playing the 'victim' when is the offender.” She challenged Madela to be upfront about his feelings and suggested going public with their dispute.
Serious Allegations
In her social media post, Mercado also shared some serious allegations against Madela, including claims that he prioritized money over family and even got physical with her over financial disputes.
She claimed, "Fame and fortune got to his head. He said that money is more important to him than family."
Madela, on the other hand, has chosen not to engage in a public feud with Mercado.
A Family Matter
In a recent interview, he stated, "It’s a family matter, and we’re trying to deal with it privately." Addressing the song’s connection to his aunt, he clarified, “It was written by a different person.”
He also expressed gratitude for Mercado’s role in his career, saying, "I am grateful… Tita Annie brought me to Manila. She helped me get into showbiz."
Madela acknowledged that both he and Mercado have moved in different directions professionally.
"We have different priorities now. Sila, they are focused on the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA), ako I’m focused on a new chapter in my life doing something different naman,” he explained.
The public fallout between Madela and Mercado highlights the complexities of personal and professional relationships in the entertainment industry.
While Mercado’s accusations have brought their issues into the limelight, Madela’s decision to handle the matter privately suggests that there is more to the story than what has been publicly shared.
