Drawing of lots for teams in the EASL set to happen on Tuesday at the Shangri-La Fort Manila.

Five leagues will be participating in the 2022-23 East Asia Super League (EASL) and representatives will be in attendance for the inaugural drawing of lots on Tuesday at the Shangri-La Fort Manila.

Included in the games are Japan B League, Korean Basketball League (KBL), PLeague+, and the Bay Area Dragons of Greater China for the maiden regional league season set to start in early October.

Representatives from the leagues will join Ricky Vargas of the PBA Board along with commissioner Willie Marcial in the drawing of lots.

During the draw, the domestic teams have the right to pick the side during the coin flip, and the winner gets to be placed in Group A while the loser will automatically belong to Group B.

KBL will send Seoul SK Knights and Anyang KGC in the EASL, the B. League will have Utsonomiya Brex and Ryukyu Golden Kings, the Dragons will carry the fight for Greater China, however, the PBA and the PLeague+ are yet to finalize their teams.

In the ongoing PBA Philippine Cup, whoever will reach the finals will represent the PBA in the home-and-away tournament, while either the Taipei Fubon Braves and Hsinchu JKO Lioneers will be the face of the PLeague+, whose best-of-seven title series is ongoing.

An Advisory Board meeting is also set to happen ahead of the draw with Barangay Ginebra governor Alfrancis Chua representing the PBA.

The games’ format will have all the eight teams divided into two according to the draw, and will play home-and-away games within its group or a total of six matches per team.

The top two teams in each group will then advance to the semis, while the top two finalists will be battling for the championship and the $1 million prize money at stake.
