Fisherfolk from the Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas (PAMALAKAYA), along with other progressive groups and advocates, troop to the headquarters of the Department of Agriculture (DA) in Quezon City, in time of the World Fisheries Day today, November 21.
The protesters demanded DA Secretary Francisco Tiu-Laurel Jr. to withdraw his family-run reclamation project in Bacoor City, Cavite. The reclamation has already displaced more than 700 fishing families over the last two years, and continues to threaten more than 1, 000 coastal families.
