Last Wednesday, at least 16 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), including a baby, returned from Israel where conflict with the Palestinian militant group Hamas is ensuing.
The first batch of Filipinos arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 aboard Etihad Airways flight.
According to Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Undersecretary Hans Leo Cacdac, Filipinos are mostly caregivers and hotel workers.
Cacdac said that another batch of Filipino workers is also returning to the Philippines but has yet to confirm when they will arrive from Tel Aviv.
Officials said there are 137 Filipinos who have Palestinian wives still awaiting instructions on when they will be repatriated to the Philippines, while 78 other Filipinos have already reached the border of Rafah.
Most of the Filipinos who requested to be repatriated came from Tel Aviv where it was not as dangerous as the war between Israel and the Hamas group.
The Filipinos were met with several government agencies including the Department of Foreign Affairs, DMW, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Department of Social Worker and Development, and Department of Health.
