For the longest time, the Land Transportation Office has failed to give motorists who apply for license plates (new vehicles) such that so many vehicles ply the roads without such important plates. In case of accidents, there is difficulty locating those engaged in traffic violations and even road rages.
Finally, the LTO is working extended work hours to notify those with pending plates to get theirs from their offices. As of October this year, 337,607 pairs of license plates out of the 2.5 million backlog had been manufactured. The LTO targets 400,000 pairs of plates by year end.
