As envisioned before, the beep card will not just be useful for riding a train but can also be used to buy any merchandize. Here, a merchant uses a beep card to charge a customer at the LRT-1 Balintawak Station in Quezon City today.
The LRT-1 operator Light Rail Manila Corporation formally rolled out its Tap2Pay campaign with more LRT-1 merchants as new channels for beep loading and payment services as it intensifies contactless transactions. The initiative allows more uses of beep card for passengers as they can now use it to buy goods at merchant kiosks at different LRT-1 stations, and eventually even in malls and department stores.
