For a change and for the love of culture and the arts across the country, television, movie, multimedia, socmed and theater artist Frank G. Rivera saw to it that he made the rounds of live entertainment monitoring not only for the benefit of his award-giving body baby Philippine Leaf Awards but to observe the holiness of the Lent season.
Traditionally, Frank just stays home in his town of Paete in Laguna Province every Holy Week or shuttle from community to community in Laguna and Quezon provinces.
Even if he resides in Taguig City, he doesn't mind traveling from Paete to Angeles City, Pampanga.
But last week, Rivera, together with his friend Phil Panganiban, an active member of LEAF paid Nelson Mendoza a visit in Central Luzon.
Frank, Phil and Nelson watched, savored, felt and emphatized the sacrifices of Jesus Christ to save mankind from doom and destruction.
They went where a passion play was staged in the middle of Angeles City.
In his Facebook wall, Rivera stated the following words: "Frank G. Rivera in Angeles City's 'SIETE PALABRAS,' the traditional Cenaculo/Street Production of the Passion of Christ, directed by Suyat--Artista's Jayson Gantan Pabalan for Barangay Lourdes North West, Angeles City.
"Imagine, on GOOD FRIDAY at 3 pm, when the actor playing Christ died on the cross, rain, lightning with thunder--and even earthquakes were simulated for everyone's total experience."
Showbiz personalities were atteactions in the street play. According to Frank, the horse riding Centurion was Vivamax actor and a performer of Jayson Gantan Pabalan's UYAT-Artists, the celebrated theater group in Central Luzon.
After the show, Frank, Phil and Nelson had an exclusive photo-op with another celebrity, a dashing actor, VJ Vera who played a Centurion.
Rivera felt he was renewed as a person and as an artist after watching the "senaculo."
Could Suyat-Artista be a nominee in the 2025 Philippine LEAF (Live Entertainment, Fashion and Festival) Awards?
That is something to look forward to.
