Long live, Paete! This must be the battle cry, not only of the whole Filipino nation but the entire Paete, Laguna as well.
This is because a film about wood carving shot right in the municipality recently won accolades at the 10th Emirates Film Festival in the Middle East.
“Abenida,” about a wood carver in Paete who has a dilemma in his psyche, won Best International Film at the festival.
This was announced by the director of the project himself, Louie Ignacio.
According to Louie, the film also garnered the Best Actor Plum for Allen Dizon and the Best Supporting Actress recognition for Katrina Halili.
“Congratulations to our humble film ‘Abenida’ for winning Best International Feature Film at the recently concluded 10th Emirates Film Festival in Dubai,” noted Louie on his Facebook wall.
The film was written by Ralston Jover, and directed by Ignacio under BG Productions International of Baby Fabugais Go.
Allen and his manager Dennis Evangelista together with the key people in the production were in Dubai to accept the awards.
Meanwhile, another masterpiece of Ignacio, “Papa Mascot” from Wide International Film Productions was officially selected and screened at the 44th Fantasporto International Film Festival in Montreal, Canada.
Louie was around in the two international film festivals.
