She might be out of sight and sound in her own country, but Filipino singer Mike Lorie is very much around internationally.

Aside from waxing her signature songs and covers digitally and commercially released worldwide, Mika is in the thick of things performing in different venues in Japan.

She also joins international singing contests like the recently concluded Kitashinchi Grammy Singer Contest held in Osaka City.

Lorie won second prize in the competition with her powerful interpretation of the much ballyhooed “My Way.”

The Filipino chanteuse bested several Japanese singers in the derby.

“Ako lang po ang (I am the only) Filipino in the contest and I’m proud of it. This honor is for our country, the Philippines,” exclaimed Mika, who has been a professional singer in Japan for years.
