Despite kinks and delays, the 31st Anniversary Gala and Dinner Dance of Kannawidan Foundation's fashion show at the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel on the last Sunday of January this year.
It was a stunning show of force among sartorial designs using indigenous Iloko material such as inabel of ace fashion designers of the country, namely Renee Salud, Toni Galang and Albert Figueras.
Inabel, a contraction of the full term Iloko Abel, one of the finest weaving procedures of fabric common in the Ilocos Region.
According to Albert, it was a challenge to create an attire using inabel. "i didn't come from the Ilocos so I had to research on the material," said Figueras.
But it was a success in concept and implementation which impressed the members of the audience like Lina Marcos Roque, the President of Kannawidan Foundation, Senator Imee Marcos, etc.
Figueres, Toni and Renee's creations complemented the theme of "Karayan A Pagbiagan...Aywanan" which was "Care for Our Rivers...the Wellspring of Life."
