QUEZONIN children in at least five public elementary schools have reason to be hopeful and happy. Their schools have been chosen to participate in the pilot implementation of face-to-face classes in Quezon province that started last November 15.
The five lucky schools are Tamulaya Elementary School in Polillo, Lagmak Elementary School, Lumutan Elementary School and Dinigman Elementary School in General Nakar, at Pablo D. Maningas National High School in Quezon, Quezon.
The schools were chosen because of the low risk status of the epidemic COVID-19 in these areas.
In Dinigman Elementary School in General Nakar, it was reported that four teachers happily welcomed 11 kindergarten pupils and 39 primary learners who were all excited to learn the usual way which is face-to-face. A total of 68 percent of the school's students belong to indigenous people.
It is well to note that the children were following basic health protocols such as the wearing of face masks, face shields and social distancing. They undergo temperature check, health declaration thru the QR code and have access to a facility for hand washing. The students conduct their classes only for three to four hours.
The good example that these indigenous students are doing should put to shame the youth in supposedly smart and intelligent villages or barangays in Metro Manila who wantonly disregard COVID-19 prevention protocols.
Carry on, children of General Nakar. Your good behavior and excellent example are being appreciated by the whole nation.
