Department of Education will soon-to-released guidelines on the use of face mask in schools after talks with the Department of Health.
Following the release by President Marcos of Executive Order (EO) No.3 on the optional use of face masks outdoors, the Department of Education (DepEd) said it would release guidelines on the wearing of face masks inside classrooms, after consultation with the Department of Health (DOH) and other education stakeholders.
DepEd spokesperson Michael Tan Poa said that teachers and students will wear face masks inside the classroom, the Business Mirror reported.
Most of the time, students are in enclosed areas. So, in the classroom, wearing a face mask is a good suggestion from the DOH since the pandemic is not yet over.
He added that input from such coordination will be included in the soon-to-be-released guideline.
Executive Order No. 3 states that “the voluntary wearing of face masks in open spaces and non-crowded outdoor areas with good ventilation is hereby allowed; provided that not fully vaccinated individuals, senior citizens, and immunocompromised individuals are highly encouraged to wear their masks and physical distancing will be observed at all times.”
EO No. 3 added that face masks should still be worn “in indoor, private or public establishments, including in public transportation by land, air or sea, and in outdoor settings where physical distancing cannot be maintained.”
