With online games becoming a hit due to the Covid-19 pandemic, here are some games developed by Filipinos, for Filipino tastes.

Games often reflect life and the virtual indie game development studio Moocho Brain released In The Time of Pandemia (ITOP), a free-to-play game where the player is tasked to test, hospitalize, and enforce physical distancing and lockdown

GAMING has been big in the pandemic but we ought to remember and support local products and thankfully, we can support games produced by Filipinos right now.

The first of which is the award-winning mobile game Brawl Quest by Thinkbit Solutions. The beat-em-up game has been making rounds on Facebook for featuring new characters designed after popular local comics.

Last year, the company announced five new characters for players to choose and among them is Girly from the Little Things PH comic by Ivyree Rosario and Ulan from the online comics Sskait by AJ Bacar.

Just last month, webtoon Hunghang Flashbacks announced the character XX is now playable on the game.

There are two more characters yet to be unveiled but anyone can start playing the game on their mobile through iOS and Android.

Games often reflect life and the virtual indie game development studio Moocho Brain released In The Time of Pandemia (ITOP), a free-to-play game where the player is tasked to test, hospitalize, and enforce physical distancing and lockdown.

The game shines a light on the current situation where there are budget limitations to consider, quarantine violators, and scarce hospital beds.

In a post, lead developer Khail Santia shared his concerns over the pandemic and what he, a game-maker, can do.

“As incidences continue to rise here and in many parts of the world, our hope is that the game will be of some use in showing what it takes to flatten the curve and in advocating for communities most in need.,” he writes.

ITOP is playable on the NewGrounds website.

On a lighter note, we are celebrating Filipino Food Month which is why the local game, Lutong Bahay is a perfect introduction to the many Filipino dishes that we love.

The game is developed by Team Meowfia and published by game studio Senshi.Labs. Play as Maricela and travel the Philippines to discover unique Filipino cuisine, recipes, dishes.

The game features in-depth information on Filipino dishes as the team dedicated time to get the history and cultural context right.

The team of students started developing the game only to pass it as their thesis but admits that they have embraced the challenge to showcase their style and talents into Lutong Bahay.
