Eastern Samar State University (ESSU) has once again demonstrated its commitment to academic excellence after producing four topnotchers in the recently concluded Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT), according to official results released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

In the elementary level examination, ESSU College of Education graduates Jennifer Bacula and Katherine Joy Elem both secured the No. 7 spot, each earning an identical rating of 92.80 percent.

In the secondary level, ESSU’s strong showing continued with Aira Shane Nicart and Chris Anthony Gajelan placing No. 9 and No. 10, respectively, with ratings of 93.20 percent and 93.00 percent.

The achievement was hailed as a remarkable milestone not just for the university but for the entire province.

Eastern Samar Lone District Representative Christopher Sheen Gonzales extended his heartfelt congratulations to the topnotchers, emphasizing that their success reflects a combination of personal dedication and the quality of training provided by ESSU’s College of Education.

Gonzales said the graduates have brought honor to Eastern Samar and set an inspiring example for future aspiring teachers.

“These young educators exemplify academic excellence, discipline, and dedication. Their achievement reflects not only their personal effort but also the quality of mentorship and preparation they received at ESSU,” Gonzales stated in a public commendation.

He also acknowledged the broader cohort of examinees who passed the licensure exam, underscoring the essential role that licensed teachers play in shaping the country’s educational landscape.

The lawmaker further highlighted recent efforts by the Department of Education (DepEd) to expand the teaching workforce, noting plans to hire 32,916 new classroom teachers in 2026.

This initiative, he said, opens up meaningful employment opportunities for newly licensed educators and aims to address persistent challenges such as large class sizes and teacher shortages in many public schools nationwide.

The success of ESSU’s topnotchers adds to a growing trend of strong performances from regional universities in national professional board examinations, reflecting the capability of institutions outside Metro Manila to deliver quality education and produce highly competent professionals.

As ESSU celebrates this achievement, the university community and stakeholders look forward to more graduates joining the ranks of licensed teachers, contributing to the nation’s educational development and uplifting the standards of teaching in the regions.
