With esports becoming one of the biggest players in the local sports scene, stakeholders are now also leveraging their weight for charitable causes, such as providing aid to those affected by recent typhoons.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) developer Moonton Games has launched a humanitarian initiative under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, Moonton Cares, to assist Filipinos affected by severe tropical storm "Kristine" last October.

In collaboration with ABS-CBN Foundation and Operation Compassion Philippines Inc., the initiative provided 5 kilograms of rice to 675 families in the hardest-hit areas and distributed basic necessities to 515 families still recovering from the typhoon’s effects.

"At Moonton Cares, we are committed to making a positive impact and using gaming for good. We hope this donation will ease the burden of our kababayans who have been affected by this natural disaster," said Jose Chua Jr., Moonton Games' game publishing marketing manager for the Philippines.

Additionally, the current MLBB Philippine champions, ONIC Philippines, hosted a charity livestream event titled "Stream for a Cause."

During the livestream, players Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez and Kirk "Kirk" Gutierrez rallied support for the Filipino community, with all donations benefiting the Tanging Yaman Foundation Inc.
