For the first time after so many years of not seeing, talking and performing with each other, Ernie Garcia and Juan Rodrigo were together in one show not as an equal performing duo but as separate artists.
It was, after all, the solo concert of Ernie.
Billed "Unmasked," the live entertainment which was held at the Grimaldi Restobar in Monaco Strip in Taytay, Rizal featured the multifarious talents of the actor.
"Seldom knows that aside from acting, I am also a singer and a visual artist. I want to show all my sides as a persona," said Garcia.
One of the hit numbers Ernie did was his dramatized musical of sorts adapted from the Tagalog song "Sino ang Baliw?" popularized by Kuh Ledesma.
The actor had simply internalized the nuances, dimension and depth of the music field in the real meaning of the ditty.
Ernie's costume as the ragamuffin was natural and earthly as the nature of his misjudged if not misguided fool.
Onstage many times before, Garcia has donned the priestly rob of the Savior in EG's mini production of "Jesus Christ Superstar." where he dished out the featured eponymous title of the song.
Ernie isn't only an actor but a terrific singer as well.
Meanwhile, Juan wasn't only a surprise hit as he sang Spanish songs, one of them "Besame Mucho" which in turn surprised the crowd composed mostly of Baby boomers.
Rodrigo has the velvety voice of a crooner of romantic music of any race.
Another surprise number in the solo show of Ernie was the appearance of one of his bosom buddies, Carl Balita, the owner of professional review centers in the country.
Carl belted out a cover of the iconic "Spain" popularized by jazz singer Al Jarreau.
