Enhanced security at PH airports

PNP, AFP conduct anti-terrorism exercises

The Philippine National Police - Aviation Security Group (Avsegroup) and the Joint Special Operations Group of the Armed Forces of the Philippines recently partnered in a joint exercise aimed at enhancing their cooperation and readiness to address terrorist threats at airports within the country.

The Joint Interoperability Enhancement Exercise began on June 18 at the PNP Avsegroup headquarters inside the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Complex.

The exercise is designed to promote the exchange of knowledge and skills, with a particular focus on improving crisis and emergency response at airports in the country.

"This milestone proudly showcases the elite forces of the PNP-Avsegroup Special Operations Unit, the versatile skills of the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Joint Operations Group, and the strategic expertise of the Philippine Air Force's 710th Special Operations Wing, Through this initiative, these elite units are poised to operate in partnership, harmonize their expertise, resources, and efforts toward achieving shared objectives and enhancing national security," the Avsegroup said in a statement.

The 710th Special Operations Wing of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) also participated in the activity.

"The interoperability exercises shall be the ray of hope for a safer future and now shines brighter that ever, as the partnership built during the enhancement exercise will transcend boundaries through our unwavering commitment to prevent, prepare for, and respond to acts of terrorism in our airports across the country," PNP Avsegroup director P/BGen. Christopher Abrahano said.

The conclusion of the enhancement exercises that took place on June 28 at the Button Ramp, Subic Bay International Airport, Morong, Bataan,was attended by 710th Special Operations Wing Commander Brigadier General Antonio Z. Francisco Jr., Abrahano, members of the command group, other PNP Avsegroup key officers, observers from Quezon City Police District SWAT and Special Action Force, and the Joint Special Operations Group of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
