Buckle up, EDSA-Kamuning motorists!

Now in place is the alternative re-routing scheme following the major rehabilitation of EDSA-Kamuning Flyover Southbound.

The announcement was made public by the Department of Public Works and Highways—National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) to give way to the retrofitting activity and installation of carbon fiber and restrainers underneath the bridge following the observation of damages to the bridge.

The strengthening tends to prolong its lifespan and prepare for “The Big One” earthquake.

Kamuning Flyover is among the “14 critical bridges identified by JICA” to be affected by the predicted 7.2-magnitude earthquake.

The project will be phased in. Starting May 1 through October 25 this year, southbound lanes will be closed to private vehicles.

Phase 1 will run from April 25, 2024, to August 6, 2024, following Phase 2, which will start from July 15, 2024, to October 25, 2024.

While repair is ongoing, EDSA Bus Carouse is allowed to use the flyover. Private vehicles may use the EDSA service road, Mabuhay Lanes, or other alternative routes.
