The Roman Catholic community of Eastern Samar is now mourning the tragic loss of one of its priests who died in a road accident in Llorente town Wednesday, January 16.
In a report, 66-year-old Fr. Alejandro "Alex" Galo died on the spot after his motorcycle was hit by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) along the national highway in Barangay Naubay of this town.
Galo, a native of Maydolong, Eastern Samar, was the head of commission on church properties and commission on church cemeteries in the Diocese of Borongan.
The priest suffered multiple injuries that caused his death at the crash site.
The SUV driver is now under the custody of the local police.
“We ask for your prayers during this difficult time as we honor the life and legacy of a remarkable servant of God. Details regarding the wake masses and burial will be communicated shortly,” Fr. James Abella, chancellor of the Diocese of Borongan, said.
“Let us come together in prayer, remembering Fr. Alex in our hearts and asking for God's comfort for all who mourn his loss,” Abella added.
