Catbalogan City, Samar – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Samar Field Office has assured consumers that there will be no significant price increases for Noche Buena items as Christmas and New Year approaches. This was confirmed by Vicente Candido, Consumer Protection Division Chief of DTI Samar, during an exclusive interview with OpinYon.

Stable Prices with Monitoring Measures

When asked about the possibility of price hikes, Candido stated, "So far, waray man. Mayda man price guide an DTI para ha mga consumers ngan store owners.” He emphasized that the agency has already issued a price guide to ensure transparency and protect consumers from unwarranted price increases.

Candido also reassured the public that changes in prices are unlikely as the holidays near. "Deri na po ito kay regular man aton monitoring. Maaram man mga tindahan na gin babantayan han DTI ito na mga produkto,” he added.

Importance of Monitoring

DTI Samar conducts regular price monitoring to ensure that establishments comply with the suggested retail prices (SRP) and prevent overpricing. These efforts aim to protect consumers and provide them with affordable options during the holiday season.

Empowering Consumers

DTI also encourages the public to be vigilant and refer to the agency’s price guide before making purchases. This enables consumers to make informed decisions and avoid overspending during the festive season.

The assurance from DTI Samar offers relief to Samarnons, who can now focus on preparing their holiday celebrations without worrying about unexpected price surges. This effort exemplifies DTI's dedication to consumer welfare and market stability.
